Was / Wasn’t / Won’t Be
This series interrogates the archetypal roles and moral ideals that take root inside the female body, specifically investigating the cultural equation of womanhood with motherhood. It addresses systemic influences that shape these ideals, aiming to foster awareness and a sense of empowerment in viewers. Through a meticulous layering of printmaking, collage, and vintage textiles, these works visualise the tension between inherited duty and personal reclamation. By exploring the complex emotional terrain of childlessness, the collection invites reflection on the "internal architectures" and systemic regulations we unknowingly carry.
